Wicked art, efficient cost, evasion, and a built-in Force Spike? Uh. Okay, I'll take four. For seventy-five cents. I'm astounded that it's so cheap right now. I think it's even appropriate for control outside of budget; it's just incredibly efficient. Either they waste a removal spell on the hatchling or all of their spells cost 1 extra. It's like a cheap, one-sided Sphere of Resistance. Awesome.

Not only can it annoy the opponent, its dead useful with things like Hive Mind which makes counterspells almost useless, so you can play cards like One with Nothing or Breakthrough X=0 and easily counter the original so it doesn't hit you.

If your opponent plays a Doom Blade/Terror/Dark Banishing on Spiketail Hatchling, sacrifice it. If they pay the 1, you're dealing with an idiot. ;)

@GlassJoeTheChamp I do that all the time with my Judge's Familiar, but that can actually have a use if an opponent would exile this creature and you could reanimate it if it went to the grave.

Took me way too long to realize this was spell, not instant or sorcery spell. Was wondering why it was rated higher than Judge's Familiar and Cursecatcher. Wow. This is good.
