turns what your opponent thought would be a disadvantage into a 4/2 Beatstick, or a kill spell. good card.

Throwing a couple of these in my re-animator deck next week. Can't wait to see the look on my friend's faces when they counter this, only to have it come back for more. Sexy.

eh, nobody would counter this if I played it, for a few reasons, 1 they should know better than to sacrifice one of their creatures to get rid of one of mine (mine will come back theirs wont) and two they very likely wont have many options about what to sacrifice (unless they have a bunch of token generators that usually skrews my deck over big time.)
the other reason I wont use this card is because as I mentioned before, for me it's just a 4/2 zombie for 4 mana, I don't really use discarding that much (except a couple cards for the sake of getting big things out faster) so I'd usually be hardcasting it.

4/2 for 2 plus what ever ability you triggered with the discard? yes please. If ever there sacing one of there creatures for this card chances are there playing some sort of token deck that doesnt need all its creatures, in which case you can side board it out.

I run a four set in a deck with Zombie Infestation. Whats that, I have to discard 2 cards to get a zombie out? well here's an extra 2 to put out a 4/2 along with that.

Use it paired with something like Undertaker or Tortured Existence. Just keep bringing it back to see how many creatures they are willing to sacrifice. I use that mix in my Red/Black Madness Deck.

Ok. Seriously now.

WHY IS THERE NOT A SINGLE COMMENT REGARDING SMALLPOX?

These two are a match made in... well... you get my point.

Gruesomely perfect synergy of artwork, abilities, and flavor text. Going to run it in a Tibalt/Madness deck.

I love the art and flavor for this card.
A zombie horde that hungers for brains and will doggedly pursue them no matter what. The only way to dissuade them from eating your face is shoving your minions into the undead horde to pacify them, at least until they inevitably come back for more.
These guys work well with cards like Undertaker, who not only give you an excuse to discard, but can continually cycle these beasties and anything else you want back into your hand to play or discard again.
A lot like browbeat, this is the kind of card you play when you really want to probe your opponent during one of their slow turns and see how they respond to it.
If I remember correctly this card came in a theme deck featuring cards like the madness enchantment Gibbering Descent, which empties everyones hands over time, an effect that definitely puts someone under pressure, particularly if you slam them with a Psychotic Episode and nab one of their immediate response cards.

Ultimately I think these guys have a very narrow niche, and Phantasmagorian fills that niche better than they do for many reasons. Nonetheless, these guys are an awesome example of creativity in the zombie creature type and hold a special place in my heart. Not to mention, they have a great synergy with discard/burn cards like Firestorm or Mercurial Chemister.
