0 mana artifact, good already. preventing a res, even better. ***es off berried alive decks.

An instant sideboard if you even have a possibility of facing Golgari, Delve, or Lhurgoyfs of any kind. For that, great card. For everything else, mediocre card. But it is a true specialist.

Umm...no. This is infinitely better than Bojuka Bog. How is a land going to help you when they entomb and reanimate on their same turn?
Have you ever played legacy?

I don't understand why it taps if it's just going to get sacrificed. I mean, I guess the opponent could force it to tap to prevent its effect, but it just seems strange.

Correct, Laguz- The instant speed nature of crypt is what makes it worth playing. The only reason I could see playing bojuka bog is main deck in a black heavy deck, but it's still a tapland, so I probably would prefer not to even then.

While what it does is narrow, it does it extremely well.

Notoriety, I think it's mostly just for other cards' benefiting off its tapping.
I recently build a deck around this, Donate and Forbidden Crypt. Nice to see I'm not the only one who saw the connection. Always nice to have a three card combo in Blue/Black that has such a low total mana cost.

Notoriety, it has to tap so your opponent can respond to it. I.e. I tap it, and in response my opponent naturalizes it, it goes to the graveyard with no effect. If it was just sacrifice then I could in response to my opponent playing naturalize sacrifice it again, if they have another way to destroy it, in response sacrifice it again... rinse and repeat.

@MockTurtles,
Incorrect. The tap and sacrifice are part of the cost. Before your opponent can respond, it's all ready in the graveyard.

As a player who developed during the Odyssey block (you notice us because we lay our graveyard out in such a way that we can see everything in there), this is one of my most feared cards in the game. Significantly sets back Dredge and does even more damage to Reanimator.
@MockTurtles : You're wrong. Once the ability is on the stack, naturalize or anything like it won't remove it from the stack. Destroying an abilities source doesn't remove the ability. The tap is prob more for tap abilities and mild lockdown, a player could force another player to use it at an inopportune time.

An *awesome* card for any mill deck, or any deck using Timetwister.
Feh, opponents see this coming. I prefer Mudhole: sure it only hits lands, but it's a total surprise!

Stifle is the only card I know of that can counter an activated ability. ~$12 a piece too.

Mock turtle the sac is part of the cost so even in whatever world you live in where destroying the abilities source will destroy the ability thats on the stack you still couldn't target it with naturalize.

@somegeek There are 13 cards that can counter activated abilities, most are actually pretty cheap $-wise.

So imagine Wizards decided to print a sorcery, that for or , you could exile your opponents library. That would be reasonable, right? Or how about an artifact that you play for and then can tap, , and sac to exile a graveyard. Reasonable, right?
But then this comes in, and says, oh hey, any time you can cast me, you can then immediately exile a graveyard. Oh - But then you decide you don't want to right away? Awesome, activate this at instant speed when that pesky Reassembling Skeleton hits their graveyard after they're tapped out. Can fit in any color and deals with most graveyard tricks.
Verdict: Sideboard, EDH, and Casual. Most likely not main board at this time.

Goes well with a new card from Gatecrash: Enter the Infinite (Draw your whole deck, put one card back, no max hand size). So what you do is cast Enter the Infinite. Next turn do the following: 1) Draw last card 2) Tap 7 lands, cast Jokulhaups 3) Cast the crypt 4) Cast One with Nothing 5) Sac the crypt targeting yourself (note that it will be in the graveyard and exile itself)
Result: No cards in hand, library, graveyard or in play. You have become completely one with nothing. Imagine the looks on your opponent's faces!

Excellent card that does exactly what it needs to at a reasonable cost.
Do you always need to remove a graveyard? No, probably not, but when you do, Tormod's Crypt is right there waiting for you.
