Beaten by the Spanish Inquisition.

I am glad that Magic stopped referencing the real world in their cards. While the card is decent, and trample isn't exactly plentiful in white, i wish another had been timeshifted, as the real world has no place in Magic: The Gathering

Everything has a place in Magic, jsttu. A fantasy world is so much more believable and therefore likeable when you sprinkle realities into it.
Like, how Count Dracula was indeed a guy... just wasn't a vampire? Well, in Magic, the Moorish Cavalry can begin their suicidal charge... into a herd of angry squirrels. Everything in Magic is derived from real world imagery. Some just more directly than others.

I remember this card back when arabian knights came out. I didn't realize this card is a Knight! That fact alone adds an extra 0.5 to my evaluation because of all the great Knight stuff out there. Either Armored Ascension or Angelic Destiny would be excellent on this card.

No you fool, it's "Dies to Spain Blade".

I suspect that the fact that it references our world so obviously is the whole reason it was timeshifted -- after all, the idea behind timeshift is that a bunch of times and places and other planes got spiraled together. Why not our world as well?

(Of course, even the "Arabian" in Arabian Nights referenced our world.)
