aside from the fact that you'll need another card to make use of this guy, destruction effects are quite uncommon for blue, what makes this card somewhat interesting.

Combo with War Barge, it was also from the Dark and also time shifted... I wonder if they did that on purpose...

Um, anti-islandwalk tech? Pretty useless outside of a combo, like the ones mentioned.

Have none of you all ever seen a deck where this card could read "destroy target creature"?
Unfortunately, he may be too slow to be good tech against a Legacy Merfolk deck. ... and it's probably not too difficult to play around him.

Haha! I love the flavor! Suck on that, mermaid! ;D
It's annoying as hell, but to his credit, I've now had the unique experience of saying the phrase "Ah f*ck, my guy's got Islandwalk." Can't help but tip my hat to somebody who kills my creatures by making them too nimble underwater.

Badass merfolk sunk a ship, and he's swimming away without lookin. This guy is the Bruce Willis of merfolk, people.

There's something genuinely terrifying about a Merfolk who can sink a ship, murder Leviathans and even gut Gods if they so much as even stick a toe in the water.
