Probably better just to run Essence Scatter. The whole point of counterspells is to be a surprise. With this, if an opponent wants something big through, they need just destroy Soulsworn Jury and cast it.

ELeeLo, if you activated the counter ability on Soulsworn Jury, the following would happen:
- You would pay 1U and sacrifice the Soulsworn Jury, targeting a creature spell on the stack.
- You would cast Disperse, but would be unable to target the Jury because it would already have been sacrificed.
- You would be forced to choose a legal target for Disperse, or not cast it at all.
This happens because sacrificing the Soulsworn Jury is a cost, not an effect. Therefore, the cost is paid immediately and cannot be responded to or interrupted in a normal way. The downside to this is that you cannot use spells like Disperse to save your Jury for reuse later. The upside is that your opponent cannot use a killspell like Murder on your Jury in response to you activating its ability, because it has already left the battlefield and therefore cannot be targeted.
All costs for an ability are shown to the left of the colon. All effects are shown to the right of the colon.
