This is one card whose functionality changed it from being a rare to a crappy card. WOTC should have left the wording "Whenever your opponent chooses a creature, he or she can't choose Zou Chi, Mocking Sage" at least then he has a unique ability and he cant be chosen for cards like Cytoshape

Yeah, the ability was pretty unique as it was, but because Portal's terminology was all messed up, it had to be translated, and Wizards unfortunately chose to translate it into troll shroud rather than something new.

Why only 1.2 stars? Just slap any number of auras or equipment on him. Your opponent can neither target nor block him.

Actually Squire blocks him quite well.

@majinara- they can block him, all right. Unless theyre playing with an all-horsemanship deck, which I vote as HIGHLY unlikely.
anyway cool guy. I'd rather he was a monk than an advisor though.

I can't figure out what's going on in the art. He's somehow pulling living, bleeding guts out of a painting of a dragon...?

@Magnor_Criol
It's one of the magical tricks he used to baffle Cao Cao. Cao Cao asked for a dragon's liver for his stew, so Zuo Ci took a picture of a dragon and ripped a bloody liver out of it.

So...yeah.

His second ability might as well read "Zuo Ci, the Mocking Sage can be blocked."

Before P3K 208 artist had made illustrations on Magic cards. After P3K the number was 257 which is 24% increase.

This guy was way better in block constructed. He loses something when played in the eternal formats.

This guy is the best when combined with R&D's Secret Lair.

"I attack with Zuo Ci."

"Okay, I block with Meglonoth, Zuo Ci dies, and you take six."

"I'm sorry, who are you choosing to block?"

"I'm choosing to block Zuo Ci with Meglonoth."

"Nope, you can't choose Zou Ci. You take 1."

Proto-hexproof! So cute to see how they worded it back then...

Riding the Dilu Horse. A 3/4 unblockable hexproof isn't all that bad, right?

@Mishras-Prodigy Only if you can't read or actually think that most creatures have Horsemanship.
