another copy of a different magic card, like so may cards from Portal Three Kingdoms. This / Goblin Lore isn't a really good card anyways; unless you want to quicken some threshold effects...
It's so frustrating that the Portal 3K cards are so limited and hard to get in the US or even in English for that matter!

I know I may not know as much as most of you guys around here, but in a casual or EDH game, I instantly saw coupling this with Sundial of the Infinite... making this a 2-CMC 4-card draw for Red with no downside.

That doesn't work with Sundial. You have to resolve all of the effects of the spell before anyone else gains priority. You can't end the turn to prevent the discard.
Instead, use Library of Leng so you can choose where the discarded cards go: in the graveyard where you won't have to draw them, or on top in case you wanted those cards. Replacement effects like that DO interfere with the effects of spells and abilities.

Anything that says "draw four" for can be exploited. Library of Leng comes to mind.
