Ha! Ha! I only play with 4th edition lands. No new lands for me!

Card --
The Ankh of Mishra is an ok card, although the main problem is that if you play it too early you suffer just as much as your opponents. You may think you have enough lands, until you want to cast more spells in a turn! In my early days, I built some kind of burn deck with this in it. I really could've used that last lightning bolt. It has its uses, but overall I'd rather just use something else. Even in Land destruction!

I have an annoyingly rich friend who always runs the Zendikar search lands (e.g. Misty Rainforest) with the Ravnica shock lands (e.g. Stomping Ground).
I wanna see the look on his face when it takes him a total of 7 life to play a land, then he dies to a Price of Progress.

I got randomed here >_> really cool card when you bounce all of the lands and have a better board position out on the field, even if he starts laying lands again he is gonna suffer.

Commenting on Every Card this Weekend! :D And commenting on Alpha cards really is fun. I need to eventually Draft Alpha. heck I don't care if you take the Power out-- Alpha Magic is just Cool and Fun even without $1000 dollar cards! :O
This is an interesting concept of card. It certainly FEELS like a really Egyptian Curse, which is neat. I like that even though we've never had an explicitly Egyptian Block, there's a lot of cards in Magic that have an Egyptian/Dr. Fate kind of feel to them :)
The problem with this card is that being of low converted mana cost, it encourages you to play it early, and that does hurt you much, and you really should never play this in Multiplayer.
I think {3} is a great number to cast this for, since that could come down early if you have a plan to get around the two-edgedness, but if you don't have enough support and want to throw this down to stop ALL the lands and rely on the lands you have in play, then it's still castable early enough to hurt people but you don't feel like a putz for waiting til turn 5 to cast it.
I think that it would also just be neat and cool if this was able to sacrifice itself to gain you 2 life, as a one-shot way to make it better for you than your opponent. We've come along way and realized that Wrath of God is very good, and making things too one-sided like with Balance is very bad, but most cards should clearly sit somewhere in the middle and basically be something to give you advantage if you play it. As is, this doesn't clearly give you advantage so much as Declare a New Rule for everyone that accelerates the game to end faster. Cards like that are...alright, but usually making tiny tweaks so that the effects aren't REALLY even is a Good Thing, if you don't go overboard and make lots of Balances.
I want this to feel like an ARTIFACT, not a Red, White, or Black card, if possible. 3 CMC plus the sac clause would make it less like a White New Rule card, less like a Red All In card, and the lifegain would help keep it feeling more Artifact-y than Black :)

I'm glad my ankh pendant didn't deal 2 damage to me when I bought my house.

Shock lands are good right? This turns ALL your lands into shocks! PROFIT! Anyway, this is good for random aggro decks that wand to deal a bunch of damage for two mana. Stick it down early and it'll pay off. If it hits twice it's already better than any burn spell you could get for that much.

Please make a giant foam version of this card, so I can cheer on my favorite pro players at the Grand Prix... and twerk them at the awards ceremony.
I like playing this with Bloodchief Ascension and burn. The life gain offsets the damage you take from aggro and your Ankh, the damage is perfect to trigger BA; and they curve into one another very well. Mixing with burn you have a mix of clock, control, and ways to trigger BA on opponents' turns.
Torture your play group :D

Urza didn't come out ahead this time.
Turns fetch lands into 5 damage to the face. Plenty of fun things to do with this, a lot of decks can be made to live without playing lands for most of the game. Upheaval?
