This actually works really well with Glacial Fortress. For two life you have a lot of options on turn 2. Course, Mystic Gateway can do that with any U/W land... but you can only have 4 of 'em

The merits of this land should be fairly obvious, I just wanted to add something that might not be:
This card looks AMAZING in foil.
It's the second most expensive foil card I own (after Mana Crypt), but it is, by far, the most beautiful foil card I own- the fountain comes alive, the lighting shines, and the depth really pops.
And like all foil guild cards, the guild watermark is especially prominent.
tl;dr- as expensive as it was, this was worth every penny. Best looking foil I own, no question.

You know how they would make money on Return to Ravnica? Reprint @ uncommon! I'd buy a box then...i don't see how driving up the price for the secondary market makes sense...then there's more space in the rare file, eat up ten uncommon slots...most uncommons go unplayed wasting space in the extras box anyway...take the Alara tri-colored lands for example. They're still worth something in the card shops, more than 90% of the uncommons in my box of unplayables...Help Modern out! Reprint @ uncommon!

Wow, only one page of comments for one of the best mana-fixers ever...
Obviously combos with Fetchlands, and even after the reprint they are still ten bucks, although that will not last
I'm not such a fan of the art though, I like the RTR art much better
