Kaja Foglio is one of the most impressive Magic artists I've ever seen. While his work may be too cartoonish for some, but his work is why I still find room in my decks for beautiful, but sub-par, cards like Bird Maiden

And yeah, you're right about subpar - it may only be one point of power worse than Wind Drake, but power is usually the key thing about small red creatures. I never really used Bird Maiden much in the old days and I just can't imagine it at all now.

it also got "reprinted" as Goblin Sky Raider in onslaught, and later as R/W hybrid card Hobgoblin Dragoon, that also comes with first strike, which is therefore superior to both of them.

Great art, but the card isn't worth playing, Granite Gargoyle costs the same but is infinitely better...
