This card is a pretty useless monster, although that's been mostly the rule for blue...
Islandhome: check Untap cost: check
Although 7 CMC for a 6/8 wasn't that bad...UUU to untap kills it though...

Best card is vintage block constructed standard draft EDH.

One of several Arabian Nights creatures that flavor-wise should have been Legends. I mean, this isn't just any Island Fish. This is a named Island Fish. It's a specific, individual Island Fish. It's Jasconius, the Island Fish.

He looks sad -- like he's aware how useless he is.

Man, big blue creatures have come a long way. That being said, despite how silly this thing is, it was at least a threat (sort of) for its time. Assuming you gave your foe an island, a 6/8 creature with just an untap cost (not some silly sacrifice cost or something) was rather threatening. Still laughable by today's standards, of couse.

This card is just AWSOME!
I must admit that I like these old weirdos a lot, and as a Vorthos I hope we will see something similar (maybe a bit more playable) again. Besides, I also like the artwork: the play of light of the setting sun is really well done.
If not reworded, with the modern rules for basic land types it could tap for ! :) And then still require to untap... :( Definetly not good as a giant blue elf... :-D
For those who are curious about the name, see this article. http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtgcom/feature/80

T1: R&D's Secret Lair T2: Forest, Farseek. Unfortunately, cheating this guy out on turn two doesn't really help much (though it is fun that you don't need to sacrifice him since he is an island).

The art is pretty neat, but the card.....

Amoung the greatest cards are this, Marjan, Deep Spawn and Leviathan. Polar Kraken is just a little, too much.
