A one-drop first-striker, something you rarely see...This fits flavorfully however...Black's best one-drop at this point...

Sometimes those with the most sin cast the first stones.

Wait, is this a MasterOfEtherium comment not in all caps? I mean, I realize that he just copy/pasted the flavor text for no apparent reason, but still... we're making progress.

A solid card. The low power is easily remedied, and it's nice to see some first-strikers in black.

scumbling1's laughable attempt to be philosophical fails miserably as he realizes that
-he went out of his way to start an argument that only he participates in
-his side of the argument is fighting against unfalsifiable claims (thus he can't EVER win)
-he has the same amount of evidence as the side he's arguing against.

Attention people of the internet! If you wish to sound intelligent, start by avoiding losing illogical arguments in an attempt to procreate your ideals! Instead, if you wish to sound intelligent actually be intelligent; until then I wouldn't recommend it.

By the way, a 1/1 first striker in black is beautiful. I wish this were a Demon. Same with imps. stupid wizards.

Unlike Flying Men from the same set, this card is a case where a 1cmc creature with a specific ability is inherently more powerful in one color than it is in another. Having such a cheap First Strike creature available to a Black deck is dangerous, given the large number of power-boosting enchantments and other effects Black is capable of bringing out. With the assistance of Unholy Strength, for two black mana you get yourself a 3/2 with First Strike. Not only is that effective for the cost just based on power and toughness, the First Strike will mean it'll probably survive until someone just Path to Exiles the damn thing.

Oh, and I have to argue against the statement that this card is the best one-drop that black has; that honor belongs to Will-o'-the-Wisp. This card is a close second though.

Huh, it's actually still has the creature type devil. Wouldn't have guessed that. Guess he's obscure enough that WotC figured they could save themselves the headache of deciding if it's a demon (pretty much a devil) or imp (A 1/1 demon's a little weird).

Devils returned as a creature type in Innastrad, so this little guy has some evil friends.

The first devil, its type remain hidden due to church persecution, and remerge in Dissension, and widely spread in Innistrad.

A black creature without a drawback?!

Typhoid rats is probably a better play now, but I still really like this card. Not what people expect from a black deck.

Two versions!?! only difference I see is the tint in the black mana symbol. I am missing something else?

In regards to this comment someone made "Guess he's obscure enough that WotC figured they could save themselves the headache of deciding if it's a demon (pretty much a devil) or imp (A 1/1 demon's a little weird)." It's funny how most people makes this distinction between devils and demons when in fact it's simply not true. Demons are evil spirits, that you can't see who possess or inhabit one's body and mind versus a devil which is basically another name for satan, lucifer, or haizmann, etc. The devil is a physically mythical creature. Demons may be similar to fallen angels, but they're not quite a devil.
