Just cast a 5 mana 5/5 flier or something! BSA if you wanna be awesome, or something like serra angel is good too.

Why is the djinn token an artifact? Other than that in EDH it's not godawful...

I have it in my darien, king of kjeldor commander deck, so I get either soldiers or a djinn. I imagine it something like this:
Me: Darien, my liege?
Darien: WAZAAAAH!!!
Me: O_O
Me: Look, I found this bottle.
Darien:Great, let's drink the stuff!
*opens the bottle*
*djinn pops up*

Me: I wish for...
Djinn: Screw you!
Me: But you owe me!
*djinn hits me in the face*
Me: DARIEN! HELP! HELP!
Darien: GUARDS! GUARDS!
*djinn flies off*

Yeah, well, this card isn't going to do that much to help you win half the time... bummer!

Back in Arabian Nights, most of the djinns and efreets had some drawback, being powerful creatures that had their own agenda, oftentimes to the detriment of their master. This one is interesting flavorwise because it only showed up to fight (your opponent) half the time. The other half, it'd slap you and leave. Hardly reliable, but in those days, there were not many 5 mana 5/5 flyers that could be played by any color, even green.

Strangely enough, longtime blue stalwart Mahamoti Djinn just cost 1 more, for an extra point of toughness, with no drawback. Even though his flavor text indicates he's a master of trickery and deceit, he is one of a few djinns with no direct drawback...
