Good if you have four and get them all out in 3 turns

Cursed Rack + four of these (in that order) = Your opponent's maximum hand size is zero

Unfortunately this has never happened in the history of Magic...

Does not work very well with Misers' Cage, contrary to belief.

Use this + Arcane Laboratory + massiv Cardraw for all players + Megrim for lots of fun

I don't like this sort of thing in casual play but seriously you guys are rating this card so low? It reduces hand size by one for OME MANA.

I honestly think this guy could've had "reduced by two", possibly to all players instead of just opponents. Something like that would feel *really* black and at the same time have a lot of power. Dropping three of them would put you into an almost hellbent state, but surely hurt your opponent more, while being easy to deal with from a gameplay standpoint.

@Lord_of_Tresserhorn: Or simply use Jin-Gitaxias right away ;) Still, the Gnat Miser/Rite of Replication combo has advantages. For one, you can make use of RoR for its regular cost as well.
But he's a nice choice for the first turn indeed. Also somewhat useful with effects that make all players draw cards (that your opponents won't be able to hold).

The problem with this card is that most of the time, reducing your opponent's hand size by one won't do anything. Most good decks play cards quickly and get down to four or less cards within the first few turns. Even on the first turn, your opponent can avoid it by playing a card and casting a spell -- and if they went first, it's probably never going to help you at all, for the whole game.
In large numbers or in combination with other cards it might hit harder, but that takes even longer and gives your opponent even more time to get their cards out. And that that point, why not just use direct hand destruction?
