Don't suppose there are any Combo happy fellows in the audience who would care to pop in with a synergy card for this? If you can turn it into an Ogre, you're golden.

If you're looking for a card to do that, Gradius, then Runed Stalactite could do it on an individual basis, and Conspiracy could do it for your entire deck.

I would suggest running it in a madness/hellbent/threshold deck perhaps some synergy with jagged poppet

Blood Speaker works well with this one. He is an Ogre, and you don't have to cast him to get an advantage out of it if you discard him for Gutwrencher's effect, since he'll return with the next Demon you cast. Not a great combo, but possibly worth a thought for block-constructed. (Otherwise, Changelings would help both Gutwrencher and Blood Speaker.)

I like it for the fact that it encourages players to make themed and flavorful decks, even if I probably wouldn't play it myself.

Like the other oni, he's basically only on curve, however it's an easy restriction to meet with all of the playable/decent ogres out there and discarding doesn't matter if you have an empty hand. IMO, run him in -a speedy deck (you have an empty hand), -a dredge deck variant (you want ways to get stuff into the graveyard), or -a demon/ogre deck as intended.
3/5 by modern day standards for good creatures, probably 3.5 then

Oh yeah, Madness. Forgot about dat.
It's kinda sad that the supposed creatures with scary drawbacks were actually some of the more playable of the Kamigawa spirits...
