I wonder why this card was only printed in Alpha, Beta and Unlimited. Other cards that only exist in these editions are the Power Nine and similar broken cards. This one is far far from broken, yet still interesting actually.

For what it's worth this card had a functional reprint in Ice Age as Portent, only portent is better because it cantrips during the next upkeep, and isn't on the not-to-be-reprinted list.

@KrosanGardener: Good question about this creature. It would be interesting to know what art de***ion Mark Poole had to work with on this guy (if any).
This creature looks like a combination of an eagle, a tiger, and a human; those are three apex predators, and that'd be a fearsome creature indeed. Not hard to imagine something like that dominating its surroundings!

Portent and Ponder are both sorceries. Since this is an instant you can use it to kill Sensei's Divining Top. Note also that both this and ponder are restricted to either your library or your opponent's, whereas portent can look at either.

Well, the card is called 'Natural Selection', so I guess being an intelligent (the rope) vegetarian (apple/tomato) tiger eagle thing is the best that evolution has to offer.
