Worst -costed discard spell so far. Narrow use at its worst - this could at most find use in a sideboard of a block-constructed deck.

You could make this card an absolute power house, but only if you build a spiritcraft-themed cube.

This was never intended for use outside of a Kamigawa block draft or tourney, and it shows.

One day, this card will be a $60 requirement for tournament decks. Mark my words.......

i always liked the art of this card. that is a nezumi spearing that kami right? it doesn't seem to have any facial features or maybe i'm just looking in the wrong place. also, is it coincidence the artist is a Spears or was the title some sort of joke between the card creator and the artist?

@takenbyshadow: I think he's wearing a face mask of sorts.

@takenbyshadow i think, rather than a rat in a (ahem) hat, what we are looking at is a bearded human in a low, wide-brimed hat with a slot for eyes.

Several blocks have in-block hosers like this. It served its purpose. Not everything is designed to be useful forever.

Yuck. I guess Wizards learned their lesson when it comes to printing disposable cards like this.

When I look at stuff like this, I wonder what Wizard's is doing. Why would you make a card that only is going to be effective in one-block? Did they think that all future blocks would also be Kamigawa? Was this even worth it in Kamigawa?
@DacenOctavio
Nope. MaRo recently had an article about how limited block hosers will always be part of magic. He was talking about the 'destroy target spirit or enchantemnt in Innistrad (I can't remember what its called) in particular, but he meant things like this too

Hosers like this are a necessary part of the game. I'm fine with a card like this, as long as it's not taking up a rare slot.

Actually not too bad now that Geist of Saint Traft is such a powerful card. Gets rid of the Geist before hexproof can protect him and if hes not there then lets you take away one of the other arcane spells blue/white are no doubt running. At the very least it let you see there hand. I would say black decks should actually conisder running this as hate against Gesit of Saint Traft if the meta is dictating it.

Why did WotC keep printing these cards that hosed a new, block-specific power? They did the same thing with Ice Age's snow-covered lands. Give the new mechanic a chance before you start stomping on it, guys.
