On turn two destroying land is a big deal. Most destroy land cards cost three to play. Just suprised this fell into black not red.

I'll take Wizards not establishing a reliable color pie for 200.
GREAT card though, even if it is a red ability, that is a serious setback, especially considering they might be just one land short for everything they wanted to do now.

Color pie? Black has tons of LD: Icequake, Choking Sands, Blight, Befoul, Demonic Hordes, Despoil, Rain of Tears, etc etc etc etc. Hello? Now Ice Storm, that's a bit off as far as color pie, but green still has a few...

With a good draw, your opponent may never get to cast a spell. Ever.

This card x4 combined with Nether Void is enough control to make sure your opponent never recovers from an early hit.

The best land destroyer ever printed.

Good for casual? Seriously? This is one of the best cards ever printed. Back it up wirh hippie, hymn to tourach, mind twist and the like and you've got like the easiest win ever.

Just goes to show, one colored mana isn't exactly equal to two colorless mana.

I remember playing with this card very well as I had 4 of them at one point. It is way too powerful for only 2 CC. Red/black land destruction decks got very powerful once the Moxes and Black Lotus were out of print since there were limited means of getting mana besides lands. Unless you were playing green, it was very difficult to recover from a well made land destruction deck. They must have figured out how powerful this card was because all land destruction ever since has been at least 3 CC.

Know what'll be great if they end up making the "overextended" format? This card won't be in it.

This gets 5 stars for not being in MTGO yet. It is that good.

I really hope they dont add this to mtgo..... I remember playing land destruction decks and there isnt much besides counter decks and weenie decks that are effective agiasnt them

I find it odd that Black gets the best land destruction card AND the best dragon in Magic, rather then Red.

Always pack four of them in my MB deck, just love the card and the look on opponent's face when i cast it. Makes my day, even if i lose the game :)
The Hymn to Tourach of LD would destroy 2 lands at random for two, kind of a shame that that almost seams fair now a days... 5/5 Stars

I really like early cards like this. This is extremely strong, in an interesting color, and has a great flavor. This is back when destroying a land wasn't considered overpowered, and the designers didn't particularly care that land destruction isn't "fun." You know what else isn't fun? Counterspells.
Bring back land destruction.
