God this card sucks. Even compared to Abyssal Specter. For B instead of 1, you can have 1 more toughness AND flying.
Compared to top tier specters such as Hypnotic, this is beyond an abomination. Even being Portal doesn't save this piece of junk.
Best CMC 4 specter is still reserved for Shimian Specter, hands down.

The advantage this brings over the specters is that its effect happens when it isn't blocked, as opposed to when it deals combat damage (which is how most of the specters function). This means multiple Cumber Stones or a Meishin, the Mind Cage doesn't protect your opponent from this Nightstalker.

Artwork is fantastic. Is probably better to use under some very odd circumstances, such as with reconnaissance. If they can't kill it by blocking it you may get them to stop blocking. Also, preventing damage doesn't stop this guy, which is a nice advantage.

I miss the crazy Portal art with GUNS. I know they're not very magicky, but in this context they look surprisingly badass. I think it's the retro flintlock/blunderbuss ones that work best - would've fitted well with Innistrad.
