In 1v1 play, it's better than congregate depending on deck environment. In multiplayer, very inferior to congregate. Fair trade-off, very good card in specific decks.

For life gain, this card is quite decent for a 1 drop. It can easily net you 6-10 life for a single white mana, which in my opinion, is quite good.
