An interesting card, it established color hatred, but with effects that are out of color. Black countering spells, I believe this and Dash Hopes are the only black counterspells...

Note that the green spell CAN be regnerated.
Food for thought.

@theday: Regeneration only works on permanents, not spells on the stack.

There's also a creature countering spell in Mirage, can't remember the name of it though.

Mono Black Spells capable of countering: Creatures: Stromgald Cabal: , Pay 1 life: counter target white spell Thrull Wizard: : Counter target black spell unless it's controller pays or Instants: Withering Boon: As an additional cost to cast WB, pay 3 life. Counter target creature spell.
There are 6 cards capable of countering, and 3 cards.
Ignoring blue, white has the strongest countering, focusing on anything targeting you or something you own. Red follows, mostly countering blue instants. Green mainly just keeps itself from being countered.
And that was my learning experience for the day. Just thought I'd share, if anyone is interested.

I love old color hosers! I love them more if they are mirror-paired!

@Bastian You forget one of the best ones; Dash Hopes I like the idea of monoblack counterspells, no one ever sees them coming!

I have to say Black counterspell, but I do wish that it had the "pay life" clause attached to it, that would seem more black. Destroying a green spell as its being cast feels weird to me.

The best way to keep those fearsome Durkwood Boars from hitting the table.
