This card is so good (5/3 for 4 that pumps your whole team? seriously?) but no one knows about it because affinity was just too good for it to see play. Makes me sad...

I remember this from Mirrodin limited - often a deck MVP, and one of the few cards of which that could be said which had nothing obvious to do with artifacts (although it did, in fact, have wonderful synergy with Modular, and sometimes Sunburst, when it didn't just end the game outright). I don't know if it would be constructed worthy but offhand I don't see why not, but like the other commentator said, it came out in the wrong block to get a fair test of this.
Modern Mirrans see this, clutch their battlecry mechanic, and weep.

Wow this dies fast. I had dreams of really fun attacks with this card, but people panic when it comes out and it is unlikely you will get an attack phase with it. The toughness of 2 keeps this thing fair. It is not hard to deal with it. If you do get an attack out of it, you can be sure it will trade with something, and that combined with saving something else fragile, and adding counters can get you off to a great start. Compare to another strong card with similar applications: Cytoplast Root-Kin

How come I never heard of this card? Seems pretty awesome... I guess it just was too fragile compared to Kodama of the North Tree
Decidedly better than Battlecry. Then again, this is a rare with a mechanic that wasn't applied across the set.

Man o man, this one deserves a reprint. He got completely overlooked during his time in standard, as green was practically a non-entity during oddessy-mirrodin and mirrodin-kamigawa. Poor guy. I mean, even by modern creature standards, this guy is outstanding. Kinda shows you what kind of jank mirrodin block was when stuff like this, the slith, and beacon of creation are just not good enough to deal with Mirrodin's resident elephant in the room.
Anyway wizards, cmon, core set reprint? Please?

Pretty awesome, but haste is almost mandatory for him to work.

Could be fun with Wild Beastmaster. 4/5 Stars

Surprisingly, this is the only card in Magic that costs .

As long as you have a way to keep it alive, with cards like gigantic growth and the likes this card could cause some serious trouble. And add an attack hungry crowd around it...
A bit fragile for my taste. Contributing a whole fourth turn to a creature with only two toughness is pretty risky. If your opponent plays any color but green, you can pretty much count on them slamming a removal spell to deal with this guy almost immediately. In that sense, I can give it some praise as a very viable lightning rod. Once this guy gets swinging though, I can see how he would be very aggressive and well ahead of the curve. The biggest problem I have with that is that your opponent will ALWAYS just block it down the turn you swing, since even then it is only three toughness. it would be very rare that you would get to swing twice or more with this guy. On top of all of that, the fact that you have to attack with the creatures you want to pump can make combat sort of awkward.
