@ ClockworkSwordfish: That's what Black gets for all those "Destroy Creature" cards!

This is a card that looks better on paper then in practice. Any sensible opponent would never tap their enchanted swamp for mana, so you'll rarely see the second and third triggers go off.

Having said that, it does essentially deny the opponent an extra land (which is almost equivalent to destroy a land permanently), so for 1 green, that's some pretty good hate.

Of course, with some fun tapping shenanigans from say... Rishadan Port, this card can be everything you wanted it to be!

I run this card in EDH with Urborg to shut down OP lands like Gaea'a Cradle or Cabal Coffers.

By itself, its pwn target swamp for Green. Throw in Icy Manipulator for some serious hosing. Throw in Urborg, for a nasty maindeck combo.

If the land is tapped and spreading algae triggers and destroys the land, does the opponent still have the mana from the land in their pool to use for the turn? Or does the destruction of the land immediately mean that it never entered their mana pool?

Want to find Urborg, Tomb?
Use living wish!

Want to find it in your deck?
Use knight of the reliquary!

Keeping one in your deck and one in sideboard means you can start the algae between T2 and T3 with minor acceleration. It only takes a tiny bit of land advantage before your opponent is locked out of the game

Who'd have thought that the easiest way to abuse black would be in it's enemies' colors, using green black-hate?
