Yeaaaah... This guy is way better than Hell's Thunder. You drop him and swing when your opponent has only mana dorks out, like Llanawar Elves or Birds of Paradise and make them choose whether to negate the damage by losing a card they want or taking 4 to the face. Think of it as a Lightning Blast, but it's 1 cheaper and has not only the ability but a likelihood to recur several times over. If Hell's Thunder could use unearth over and over every time you sac'd it, it would be better, but it's only a two shot. Not as good at all.

If this guy gets chump blocked, either you want him to be chump blocked, you're not putting this guy in the right decks, or you're just not playing the deck in the proper way. With Red, chump blocking on these guys shouldn't be a problem.
Creature burn exists for a reason. This recurs. Lightning Bolt and company do not recur. Figure out how to combine the two.

This: 4/2 haste for 3 CMC, dodges board wipes, can't block, swings repeatedly.
