Am I the only one that is reminded of One With Nothing by the art?

Bad ass artwork.

Obsolete thanks to Tezzeret's Gambit, which is better in a frightening number of ways.

Worse than Tezzeret's Gambit, which is one mana cheaper, requires no coloured mana, costs 1 life less, AND has proliferate. This card counts as black instead of blue for cards that care about colour, and draws one more card, but that's it.

Am I the only one who thinks this is rather dissimilar to Tezzy's Gambit?
Why isn't this rated higher? This is one of the best pure draw spells in black.

Is the card named for its effect or cost? If "Ambition's Cost" means what you gain from this card, then the cost to be ambitous is knowledge, which makes no sense. Therefore this must be a card whose name refers to the 4 mana and 3 life it costs to cast it and not the three cards the player desires from it. If this card were to be named like most other cards it would be something like "Ambition's Reward".
I dissagree with the obsoletion of this card due to Gambit. Gambit is not strictly better. Yes, Gambit is 1 mana and 1 life less, but it is also 1 card less. I will gladly pay 1 mana and 1 life for 1 more card. Also, what if I have no need for proliferate? More cards are better than less, imo.

The M11 card Sign in Blood is very much like this.
