He is a wizard, which is relevant in that set. Just getting a 1/1 body to add to a count, tap or sac to a voidmage prodigy can be useful. But since it draws a card all ready than that is just frosting on the cake.

Works with Skullclamp to net 2 extra cards (albiet weakly). Or you can play Heartless Summoning to turn this into a cycle for a single blue, which also activates morbid.
