Normally the cost of life gain is lower than the cost of damage, so when comparing this to Flamewave Invoker you might be dissatisfied with this strict cycle. It'd have been more balanced with "or prevent the next 5 damage to target creature or player." But then it wouldn't be so close, since Flamewave's ability has no interaction with other creatures.

Sure, they're slightly different, but I like Oracle of Nectars so much more. Just 1 more cmc for a larger body, an increased amount of and more flexible lifegain, and arguably better supported tribes. Also, playable in green.

The invokers were meant to give you a reliable way to win in an absolute standstill in big, slow games. In that sense, the white one kind of fails....
