Stone Rain x2. Although this version is weaker, it has much better flavor.

Weaker? It's the same cost and effect as playing 2 Stone Rains on the same turn.

I owned a game store during Urza Block and watched as this one deck won week after week for two months straight. The acceleration back then was nuts, and jumping through Avalanche Riders, into Plow Under and going straight to Rain of Salt devastated deck after deck.

The crazy thing is: No one ever learned by being smashed by this deck. Every time they were Rain of Salted on turn four, they assumed the other guy was lucky/they were unlucky. They just kept bringing combo and control to the table because those decks were so powerful back then. Meanwhile, this one guy just kept playing Rain of Salt, and walking home with his winnings.

@Test-Subject_217601 - It only takes one counter to stop this...

I'd prefer this to playing two Stone Rains. With this alone, you get the chance to 2-for-1 an opponent. So this comes with card advantage. The same can't be said for two Stone Rains.

Of course, in the kind of deck that runs this, you're probably running both, along with Wake of Destruction.

This card seems very eligible for reprinting in the current power level of the game.
