Wow, I didn't know there were so many english teachers playing MtG.
Anyway, I'd have used this card in my pauper deck if it had costed less.
7cmc for a 4/4 is harsh.

He still rounds out to being a nice common. You're paying 4 for a 4/4, 1 for haste, 1 for first strike, and 1 for the convenience of cycling. So he's not overcosted, but nor is he undercosted.
I would prefer if he was at a lower toughness for a higher power. A 7/1 with first strike, haste and cycling is more attractive for 7 mana. (ofcourse at that point he would probably be an elemental of sorts).
