How does this card have such a bad rating? First off it's green, so the odds of you having plenty of mana are there. Combine this with Omnath, Locus of Mana, and maybe a doubling cube and you have the potential to gain a great deal of life very quicly.

It's rated low because the 6th edition rules changed so that you never get to enjoy your life gain with this. You'll be burned in response and the burn resolves first, killing you.
