Back in the day, some fans made a parody of Legends that was all useless cards. It included an ability called "Cringe", that was the opposite of Rampage. Well, apparently Wizards was listening.

Compare to a Titan and see how far we've come... or compare to Yavimaya Wurm, which was only from a set or two later and see how bad this card was even back then.

@moleland, @nope.avi

If you're putting 6 walls/elves in front of this to kill it, how much damage are you taking from the other creatures that you aren't blocking? Plus, unless one of those walls has 1 power, you still won't kill it. You need to put SEVEN guys in front of this just to drop it. If you have seven creatures held back on defense for this thing, then you're losing.

This thing also blocks as normal, so it's not all bad. Sure, he's expensive for having such a negative ability, but I think that if they re-released this guy in a new set and had him cost 2GG, he'd be playable.

what it dies so easily if your opponent has three creatures it does no damage only situation this is a good card is when you have something like titanic groth and trick your opponents into blocking it
@PeabodyET it doesnt take seven to kill it!!!!!!! what are you talking about

The card's flavor itself tells you how to kill it. And even if you don't kill it in one massive display of self sacrifice, it's permanently weaker. Spend just 2 creatures on this thing and it's harmless. 3 and you've given your opponent a wall. You've made his Turn 6 game ender into a Wall. Game over, I guess.

@Peabody:
You are correct about needing 7 to kill it through its own ability. For everyone confused, the ability doesn't trigger for the first creature blocking it. Although it would take just 4 to make it harmless.

@Dolorosa: You are quite mistaken. The ability just lasts until the end of the turn, so becomes a 6/6 again the next turn. There's nothing permanent about this card's ability besides death.

Thinking about it, this card could have been good if it was printed as black. But green has way too many efficient creatures that completely outshine it.

Block with a 5/5, you guy lives, wurm dies
block with two 2/2s, one of your guy lives, wurm dies
block with three 1/1s, all your guys live, wurm dies

BAD

Actually, if you block with a single 5/5, two 2/2s, or three 1/1s, the Wurm wins every time, only failing to kill one of the 1/1s. Read the card again.

Yes, the card has a bad ability. But it's an interesting bad ability, so that's at least a star.
