Note the wording on this version is wrong, or at least misleading. It says "target opponent", which suggests in a multiplayer game it only gains life from the forests of one specific player. However, it actully gains life from all forests controled by opponents - all opponents. Important distinction.

Doubt it. Considering the other color hate spells of the day like Karma or Justice pretty much meant game over for your opponent, this is surprisingly weak.

Don't hate. This thing nets me absurd amounts of life in EDH where most people in my group at least splash green. I wasn't a fan either, until I went looking for a card that leeches off green.

A smack in the face to the colour pie. I like how it has symmetry with Thoughtleech, but blue life gain? If they wanted mirrored hate spells couldn't they have messed around with something the two colours share like card draw?
