this is an evil card, it's either, let me have a 12/12 for 7, or let me (probably) kill one of your creatures. and I'm getting one at the prerelease ;) . Also, just for bragging rights, FIRST!!

This is why I'm not playing green at the prerelease. You can't even play it if they have a creature with 6+ power, and with the tribute mechanic and Heroic floating around, that's not gonna be an uncommon appearance.

Tribute is about a thousand times better in multiplayer. As long as you're not being ganged up on, you pretty much get to choose the mode.

4/5 So what do you prefer, a 6/6 and a kill spell for 6 cmc, or a 12/12 for 6 cmc? Seriously this card is just a kick in the gut unless you have removal waiting for it. A 12/12 on turn 6 or sooner with ramp is very scary. A 6/6 that has a kill spell on it is just pure card advantage. Can't see either of those options viable in situations without removal.

This card is THE REASON I'm playing green at the prerelease. Even if this is theros block a 6/6 is nothing to sneeze at. A 6/6 for 6 with a kill spell attached to it is BANANAS. A 12/12 for 6 is...well...it's huge. Yeah, I really can't see a bad mode for this outside of some funny corner cases.

This is the only tribute card I've seen that passes the vanilla test. That's all I see the tribute creatures as, vanilla creatures that either: A: do something relatively useless when they enter the battlefield B: gain a number of +1/+1 counters that brings them up to a point where they would pass the vanilla test So when your opponent plays a tribute creature you have a choice: let them do something inconsequential to you and give them an underpowered creature, or give them a creature that has no special effect. (or in the case of Siren of the Fanged Coast you can do both, as the +1/+1 counters do not bring it up to a fair size for the price, but the tribute effect is a permanent mind control.)
...This one's different. It's a fair vanilla creature even without the counters, and the effect is actually relevant. I think this is the only good tribute creature they printed.

Lol @SirLibrartEater: a. the fight is a may ability so you dont have to use it and b. YOU CHOOSE the target to fight with. If the only creature they have is bigger than 6/6 then youll just get a 6/6 for 6. Also this guy flat out kills 3 of the other promo cards if they dont pay the tribute.

ability is far too weak, if it dealt damage equal to its power, or destroyed a creature, it would at least be decent

The Timmy in me can't say no to a 12/12 for 6. It kinda reminds me of Furyborn Hellkite in that respect.

Is it just me, or was it really lazy for them to just reprint the artwork from the Fight the Hydra thingy?

I want to declare to my tribute payer that it's their turn to FACE THE HYDRAAA!! But the promo art makes it so much less satisfying.

Fun fun fun. Every time I dropped this I told my opponent "Either I get a 12/12 or it's going to eat something you like. Your choice."
Tribute is an extremely flawed mechanic. If an opponent has a creature with 6 or more power this guy dies instantly. If they have a kill spell it dies instantly. If they have a bunch of creatures it can just be chump blocked. If they have no creatures its a 6/6 for 6 (Hell, its even worse if you have a creature and your opponent doesn't have any). It's terrible in anything other than very large multiplayer games.

lolno. It only dies if the opponent ONLY has creatures with 6 and more power. You choose the target for the fighting, not the opponent.

When Nessian Wilds Ravager enters the battlefield, if tribute wasn't paid, you may have Nessian Wilds Ravager fight another target creature.
Please note the bold part. Even if they have stuff that can kill it, you choose if or what it fights.

Got one of these, it went straight into my casual R/G devour/fling/blood deck. I have mostly creatures in the deck (except for the aformentioned fling and blood) so getting a creature that is either removal or an excellent fling/blood target without any further combo is just fantastic.

If only this guy has trample ability on top of what it has right now, I am sure the opponent will allow you to fight any creature of your choice. Anyhow, attacked with this dude with tribute and was blocked by a deathtouch snake, and that's game...

Hmmm, verdict is still out for me regarding this card. I don't think tribute is strong enough for play in general, but this card IS one of the better tributes... particularly in green, maybe even moreso in multiplayer. It would seem to require mana ramp, so EDH does sound viable. Better if it had trample or was 3GG.

Let me get this straight. If the scenario is my opponent has...
(1) 6/6 (1) 1/1 with Death Touch (1) 2/3
... and I cast Nessian Wilds Ravager, is the following true?
1. If no tribute is paid, I can attack this round as if I have haste to an opponent of my choice, and therefore I destroy the 2/3.
2. If tribute is paid, I have a 12/12 but can't attack this round due to summoning sickness.
