I dislike this card, not because it isn't fun or unique, but because it means people are going to have to fight for positioning their seats based on who is using what deck. Subgame anyone?

Also needs a ruling for weird seating arrangements :3

I like the politics that can occur because of this. It can stop tokens and fast pace decks from finishing everyone and once. It also helps the player(s) who are falling behind board position wise and need protecting for awhile and turning them into your potential allay. However it can give other players a chance to win by protecting them from others who could deal with them but now can't because of this card.

What I find amusing is that this card essentially puts a mana cost on one of the rules of STAR EDH lol.

Wait. not Star. Whatever. Anyway this is a really common House Rule, but to use House Rules as Inspiration for White cards is I think a good thing, not overly lazy, because this *will* have a genuine impact on the game and be worth casting and stuff, but it can also be Disenchanted by anyone who finds the rule becoming burdensome, including the controller even. AND, the other option for the direction of White "Rules" cards tends to be the much maligned "Catholic School Principal Angels"

Iona, Shield of Emeria
Linvala, Keeper of Silence
Avacyn, Angel of Hope shares equal amounts notoriety and popularity, but she's kind of In this category even though people like her more.
Angelic Arbiter is probably one of the most hated.

Iona is by far cry the most despised of these kinds of cards, but White has a lot of "Law" based cards. Finding the very narrow band of design space where a card has Law flavor, is worth casting, but also doesn't make people hate you too much, is an important part of Design Space that needs to be found. I would be fine with Mystic Barrier being an Uncommon in a Block Expansion- it'll have no real effect in Standard, but it's a card that is very Good For The Game, so please print the hell out of it! ^_^

Ironically it's better suited for Blocks than Duel Decks, because Duel Decks are VERY 1v1 focused products, whereas Blocks are loosely about introducing Settings and Stories with cards for a variety of Formats, primarily competitive, but still.

I love goofy cards like this and Topsy Turvy for Chaos Magic (the precursor to Planechase). This fits right in with those types of cards. Ive been hoping for this effect for that format. It's interesting that this works so poorly with Star Magic though, in most cases making it impossible to attack your opponents. As for odd seating arrangements, the player turn order is the same if if the person to your 'left' is accross from you, so thats not an issue or really all that funny. And playing at a bar like that sounds awful without this card as you would.havr had this issue anyway. If people really start to fight over seats then roll fpr seating arrangement; this card doesn't make seats matter, that was always true.

So I know what this card means, but I thought of something that I can't figure out about it.

If I stand up, what happens? It DOES say "seated", so if we follow exactly what the card says, players not seated can't be attacked... right?

I'm totally gonna build a deck with 4 of these and go to a legacy tournament just so I can stand up at the beginning of each combat. XD

Amazing in 2 player games. I recommend everyone puts four of these in their deck.

If you don't like this enchantment's controller's selection, turn your chair around and face the other way. If you do this in order to attack that player, I bet the others at the table will let you get away with it. Annoying.
