Great Heroic enabler and might even make it into standard. Very good card.

Finally, a scry card that is not overcosted.
It can basically be: "Your attacker gets a +1/+1 counter (or some other cool thing triggers), becomes nigh unblockable and nigh unkillable, and, oh, Scry 1 as well."

Presumably where Elspeth's sword becomes a pole-arm.

Protection is quite versatile and the Scry will always be relevant. Nice card.

Oh gods, the flavor in this is beautiful. It's a prayer, a real prayer. - and it captures the flavor of prayer perfectly. By the act of praying - asking for help (Elspeth's lesson) - the hero by their own power (the triggered hero mechanic) gain power, and in that moment gain a brief respite from some danger, a moment to think. At the same time the fates are altered just a little bit - the universe changes through the act of prayer.
Nice job Wizards!

Does anyone else think this art is awesome?
I'm going to order a foil, just to see how it looks. It shouldn't be too expensive, once Theros is released.
Also, great limited card, worked really well for me at the prerelease.

If somebody had shown me the art for this card before Theros was revealed and told me this was new art for Steelshaper's Gift, despite the fact that Theros is an Enchantment block, I'd have believed that story.

Spells like this are soooooooo good for protecting your creatures from removal... Especially those you have made monstrous or enchanted or built up +1/+1 counters on etc. It would be a shame to lose something you invested all that time/mana/card draw in only to lose it to something like Doom Blade or Griptide. And you get to set up your next draw with hopefully something useful... Very nice card.

I cast this on my 2/2 creature giving it protection black. The opponent cast lighting strike (red) in response to kill the creature. Do I still get the scry? Was wondering because there is a period after the first part and was thinking the rest of card will try to resolve because there was a valid target when I cast it. Thanks.

W - counter target spot removal, scry 1.
or
W - target big fat fatty becomes unblockable, scry 1

@Ghosta - the spell, as a whole, would be countered since there's no valid target at the time of resolution.

@Ghosta as I understand it, seeing as you said you had already chosen the color red, meaning it is too late to respond, as such you should get to Scry.

@Takno: Well that depends. Sometimes people declare things earlier than they technically should - "Clone your dragon" for example - so it's not assumable that the spell actually resolved.
@Ghosta: The real question is this: Was there ever a moment where this was on the stack and the target was not on the battlefield? If so, it fizzles entirely, so you don't scry. (If the opponent cast the removal spell "in response", there was.)

Ok if I have fabled hero on the field and has madcap skills on him and with Gods Willing Called out red would madcap skills falloff

I swear to god, I will NEVER look at an untapped Plains the same way again. This card can be SO frustrating. ><

Ok, so here is a question. I was playing a game against my wife last night. She uses a Theros deck and I have switched to a Nyx deck. I was playing with a deck of red and black minataurs I played a minataur shaman that when on the battlefield gives all minataurs deathtouch. My wife played God Willing and used it against black (the color of the shaman). I said that my red minataurs still had deathtouch. She disagrees. Who is right?

@Ghosta: From the rulings on the Details page for this card: Scry appears on some spells and abilities with one or more targets. If all of the spell or ability’s targets are illegal when it tries to resolve, it will be countered and none of its effects will happen. You won’t scry.

The foil does look great, the various colors jump out.
