It's interesting how they've erratad this from "circle of protections" to "white enchantments". I suppose in Alpha CoP was the only white enchantment with an activated ability, so back then they amounted to the same thing...

Blessing and Holy Armor were the other two white enchantments in Alpha with activation costs. But the wording change happened in Revised, so we'll never know why it was changed.

I kind of wish there were more cards that specifically hated one card. As in, they could have some general use, but then they specifically call one card (or a small cycle) out, like this card pre-errata.

For example, there could be a Devil Wyvern creature that destroys target Baneslayer Angel when it comes into play, just for that interesting bit of irony.

Or a creature with Pro-Titan. Champion of the Poor, he could be.

Somehow, it reminded me ...
Gloom -> Gollum, Circle -> Ring, 3 more mana -> Ring becoming heavier

They printed this thinking COP's were too good especially against black and red.

@Boakes:
Don't forget Enchanted Evening.
Talk about rage quit. All lands are changed to "3Tap: add (whatever color) to your mana pool."

This card is some powerful color hate that can be Dark Ritual'd out on turn 1. White has Karma, so I suppose that almost balances it out. I personally am of the opinion that color hate this strong shouldn't even exist, and it seems like nowadays Wizards agrees. There's a reason we don't see cards like this anymore.

Also, the errata is interesting, but I'm glad they did it. Beforehand, it's second ability was a little overly narrow.

Savannah Lion doesn't look quite so awesome when it's 3W, does it?
