Not a very useful card at all, for a 3/3 with trample, not very good artwork, and the flavor text isnt very good.

Can you imagine what Magic would be like if every white creature with converted mana cost 5 was on par with Baneslayer Angel though?
It's a bit unfair to compare an uncommon from 1996 to a Mythic from 2010.

Personally, I don't think that it is a good idea for all the cards to be as powerful as the baneslayer, but I feel like the average common should be at least as powerful as something like Shepherd of the Lost or Sentinel Spider. I'm fine with the difference in power level between rarities, but it shouldn't be nearly as wide as it is now.
