Actually if you have no life you can't cast the card. You're not allowed to pay a cost that you can't actually pay.

For all purposes other than gaining yourself life out of a negative life hole, a negative life total is considered 0. Since your life total never dropped lower than it was before you paid the cost, you can't legally pay the cost and the spell can not be played.

Only wimps simply sign in their blood. Real men write up whole contracts in the stuff.

Just saying, i find the Oracle change odd. From having to pay the life as a cost, just just having to lose life as an effect.. It makes it a completely different card.

Actually, you could cast it at 0 life even if the life loss was a payment. In that case, "half your life, round up" would be 0 life, and players with 0 life or less can still pay a cost of 0 life if they want to.

Guys... Guys!!

Following the Oracle text (it's not a payment of life, but a loss of life), this card rules with Platinum Emperion! :O

I believe the reason for the Oracle change is because to keep it's original formatting it'd be this:

Infernal Contract
BBB
Sorcery
Rare
As an additional cost to cast Infernal Contract, lose half your life rounded up.

Draw four cards.

The problem with this version is that if I play it at say 15 life, I'll lose 8 life...even if you counter it because I've had to lose the life as a cost of playing the spell. Now you only lose the life upon resolution.
