I remember getting this card & wanting to build some sort of combo with it. Sigh, wouldn't be too bad if only paid 1 for each wage not 2

Well I think the idea is that your opponents will think about eventually getting the card, so they might let you keep hitting them for a few swings taking anywhere from 6-9 damage, and of course being red you can burn through the rest quite easily.

Works pretty well with land destruction. Your opponent shouldn't be able to keep him for more than a turn, if that, if the deck is playing right.

I love the flavor of this card, although without haste it is hard to justify in most situations. It didn't exactly play well with other red cards from its set or block, either, as slowed down your own deck whether you were running land destruction, direct damage, or casting creatures every turn.
