I love the flexibility of this card, and the surprise factor. It dosnt need to kill the creature when immobilizing it will be just as effective. Still play with it to this day. Plus I love that art. 4/5.

I've considered main'decking this. it's best when you play it and then remove a card to knock two birds with two stones. but if you can shrink a Tarmogoyf it will just be an ugly and not a big ugly, and probably only be able to deal 1 or 0 damage for the rest of the game. there are a number of 1 toughness things that will fall prey to contagion. you distribute 2 counters, so they can both be one 1 thing or on 2 things.

Proliferate? Maybe? No? I just like the idea of spreading freaky counters around. Confusion for everybody! Yay!

1, the art is epic 2, weird counter types FTW 3, run in a madness deck for extra fun for example madness in big game hunter

Wow I came across this hitting 'random card' and almost didn't read it because the writing is small on my screen and there's a lot to read. I read the oracle text and am pleasantly surprised! Interesting. It's like a double Weakness.

i never particularly liked the mechanic of losing a card for this or force of will, but they are both great in practice. force of will makes it worth your while, whereas i'm still only half way behind this card. it's better now that reanimation is easy. back then the best reanimation was dance of the dead. blah blah blah.

It occurs to me that the Oracle text for this card is actually notably worse with Doubling Season than the actual printed text. One or two target creatures versus any number of target creatures. Unfortunate.

This doesn't work with Madness, since you're not discarding the other card, you're exiling it.

That evil cat is kind of creepy, really...
I think the card is "meh." You're not really getting any real advantage out of it unless you kill two 1-toughness creatures. Anything else really isn't worth it, in my opinion. I'd rather play Snuff Out

I happen to feel this card is rather strong. Compared to Force of Will, it allows one maintain card advantage...or atleast not lose a card in the exchange. More importantly, however, it allows the caster to "use" a non removal card to eliminate a second target while still disrupting an opponents game plan. Consider this against Goblins to be second to none in terms of removal spells.

It counters some degenerate early plays (dark ritual + hypnotic, to name a milder one). It has its places.
