This is really a poorly named spell. The word "evaporate" does not evoke damage at all. Homelands = the suck.

I agree, although the flavor text goes nicely with the name...

@GainsBanding

It does if you are made mostly/entirely of water, like many white/blue things.

The Oracle text makes this card better. Lets say you are playing a RedWhite deck versus a blue deck. According to the old wording, your white creatures would be damaged but the new wording your creatures can be saved.

Rather useless, except maybe against Tim and bad Merfolk decks.

Or, you know, you could use Electrickery, which costs less, doesn't hurt your creatures, is an instant, isn't colour specific, is a common...

@JFM2796:

That's not true. This will deal 1 damage to all creatures that are either blue, white, or both.

That aside, terrible card. Nice art, but even that can't make up for the aesthetic jank that is Evaporate. Sadly, it was stuck with one of the most visually unappealing mana costs in the old card frame, plus the sorcery typing, and the art that's very centric on the right half of the box. It all fits together in just the perfect way to make the card look like total crap.

Aside from being an awful card for other reasons, the card just doesn't feel right in any way. And that, in my opinion, is its biggest failure.
