Even with the cantrip, this is overcosted. How much life are you realistically going to gain? Shave a mana and it'd have been perfectly balanced for both limited and casual and let's be honest, it more than likely wouldn't have seen play in constructed even at W.
Oh lordy this card is bad. However, the art is just great.

The ability still stacks, the card does not apply to the new lifelink rules (since it is not using the key word)

Best part is you can use it on opponents creatures to counter any non-infect damage.

While skimming the 25-cent bin of my local card shop for spare EDH-stable cards, I found this and realized how useful it is. Even at three mana, it makes it so that ANY creature gives you life AND you get to draw a card. Not too bad, especially with the instant speed slapped on as well.
