Get wrecked by a dragon with butterfly wings. Great flavour, nice 'n' cheap, and versatile too. 5/5.

This is reeaally slow, and doesn't give you much of a reward. Can you imagine if this card came out in the Zendikar block? "If you cannot remove a pupa counter, enchanted creature gains 5 +1/+1 counters, flying, trample, and annihilator 3." :D Cause Zendikar is craycray

They need to revisit the text of this card. Both printings specify that the end benefit is that a creature gains flying (last indefinitely) and a +1/+1 counter. It's already incredibly slow for little payoff, there's no need to nerf it further by denying it the benefits of Doubling Season, or the ability to annihilate a -1/-1 counter on a persistent creature.

Also, a little weird that they changed it from a change counter to a pupa counter. I guess they thought that in print it looks to much like a charge counter.

@longwinded: As of the latest Oracle updates, Cocoon gives a +1/+1 counter again.

I thought it was pretty good, then I saw the really low community ranking so I figured I'd read the card again. Then I saw that it could only target a creature you controlled.

So you guys are right, it does suck. Carry on.

One of the few ways to give a creature Flying in mono-green.
