Ah, old equipment...
While it isn't useless, Slagwurm Armor is probably a better choice, and +0/+1 counters don't get Simic and Morningtide bonuses.

Used to use this on living wall. Ah, the childhood memories. :D

Simply too expensive for something that only gives toughness.

The fact that you can use it as an instant is a nice touch, though, since it means you cast it before you need it and slap it on whatever creature best serves your purposes whenever it comes up; that does give it a small advantage over modern equipment. Not enough to be worth the ridiculous 4 mana casting cost or the fact that it's a two-for-one if the creature dies, though.
