Was this the first white elf?
In Urza's Saga was a better card with Sanctum Custodian already, that tells you a lot about the quality of this card.

Glad the guy finally got his Elf status.

Yay for white elves...?

Way back when, non-human races got a racial type (goblins, elves), and humans generally got a clas s type (soldier, barbarians, townsfolk). (That of course omits the people who were their own unique type like Uncle Istvan or Scavenger Folk.) This is the first card that really made me pause about its type.

The flavor text is also humorous in conjunction with that on Cooperation.

White Elf is Blue. :|

this card always blew my mind as a kid. I so liked white, but never had any white elves! things have changed now of course. they're almost a staple. also it was awesome how he followed the blue elf variant that's found on the old elvish scout and elvish hunter. official "lore" reason is that it's "just warpaint" but I actually like the idea of blue-skinned elves myself.

I really want to see them redo this card in a new set. (W) for the same ability, 1/1 status or even 1/2 uncommon. art that pays homage to this card. would be so cool if this guy were actually viable.

The art looks like a coloring book.

Although I'd like if they brought in blue-skinned elves. I think that'd be fun.

Green elves are white-skinned.
White elves are blue-skinned.
Blue elves are black-skinned?
Black elves are red-skinned?
Red elves are green-skinned?

The flavor text is a nod to Cooperation, setting the stage for the uneasy alliance between the human Kjeldoran faction, and their elvish cohorts.
