Am I the only one who doesn't see a point in these core set reprints? Not that I don't like the reflavoring in this and Narturalize, but they could have reprinted something that, you know, isn't in standard right now. Concentration, maybe?

I don't understand the art. Are they chucking shuriken at a dead person? Or is this some sort of pagan "divination" ritual?

Commander Review: Unconditional card draw is good. This one lacks power though. During the first few turns you should have enough cards on your hand, and focus on ramping up your mana base. In the late game, you'd rather want to pay more mana for a stronger card draw spell.

"It's gone away, it's gone away it's gone away it's gone for good,
And the spirits are shouting Karelia, oh!"
Well actually it was reprinted and they're shouting Saint Traft but Mastodon references are hard to avoid for me.

What a waste of perfectly good ninja stars.

I believe the art is a soothsayer casting runes or something, not shuriken.

But yes, not sure why a card that's already in the current core set needs to be reprinted in an expansion. Unless Wizards is planning on taking it out of M13?

Who...exactly is throwing those shuriken?
Is it monsters? What horror trope on this plane throws shuriken? Zombie ninjas? Vampire ninjas? Ghost ninjas?
Is it the house members? Then why on Earth are they throwing it at the robed dude, and how can they divine stuff from shuriken hitting particular folds in the cloth? How are they divining anything?

...what, oh the card? Well, its Divination, isn't it? What do you expect, an essay?

Something tells me Wizards've tried to reprint Deep Analysis but then changed it to Divination.

Why wizards? Why would you reprint a card already printed? Not to mention it has almost no Innistrad block flavor. The card itself is decent (I never bother with it), however I give it a half star for the sheer stupidity of reprinting a card already in print with zero flavor.

Finally Divination with new art. Not that I use Divination much, but when I do I'd rather use this art than the crummy old one.

An omg can't believe how many comments think these are shuriken. they are Divining coins (or known as Divination coins to some) used by gypsies, wiccas, priests, and elders dating as far back as superstition itself. Typically they are thrown onto something that makes ripples like a thin layer of sand or water. Some coins have markings on them or shaped differently, and depending on which symbols are face up and adjacent to each other, after they are thrown, determines how they are read.

As for the reprinting of this card and others like Fling and Naturalize, I'd guess it's for Limited purposes. Why try to reinvent something that already works they way you need it to? An since every set needs a number of reprints (It's a development rule apparently) it really doesn't hurt IMO if they use cards from the current core sets so long as they are commons.

Actually not the best reprint they could have had for limited at common for card draw, IMO. I think Catalog fits the block better.

The flavour text reminds me of how our amazing scientists decide to resort to ancient Mayan calenders.

@Shadoflaam You sir just won a years supply of free internets.

I just saw Mastodon in concert two weeks ago; screamed myself hoarse, headbanged until I had a headache, rocked my balls of, and caught a pick from Bill.

It was awesome.

Strictly worse than Counsel of the Soritami because Kamigawa is cooler.

What I don't understand is why is this rated 2.5, and Inspiration is rated 3.5....
