Art seems reminiscent of Phyrexian Furnace...odd. Anyways, yeah, if you could target the same thing, this would be solid. As is, eh...probably only useful in multiplayer, and even then it won't be too outstanding.

Just as a funny note... In the Italian version there is a misprint: there is printed "anni" (years) instead of "danni" (damage). If you pay the kicker cost it deals three years to another target creature or player!
Wow, you guys are dumb. This card is still excellent. First of all, Searing Blaze can't hit a second creature, and thus can't "two-for-one". Secondly, Burn Trail itself needs creatures to work optimally, and thus do not work as well in certain deck types. This is also better than Burn Trail later in the game, when lands aren't as essential. Additionally, this is an instant, while Burn Trail is a sorcery, as previously mentioned. To conclude, it think it still compares very favourably with newer cards.
