-2/-1. Not many cards grant that.
Too easy to deal with to be worth it.

Apparently Mr. Gelon thought it was a Fungusaur Wurm

Deathtouch. Opponent blocks with three creatures, dropping it to 0/3. Giant Growth. Bye bye blockers!

Then surprise further with a Death Ward, a much underrated card.

Sounds like someone needs their Infiltration Lens. Throw on Quietus Spike for the goodtimes.

There's a reason this doesn't see play, it's because wizards printed other magic cards.

The problem here is that it costs too much. With 5Green you get almost as big creatures without the drawback.

Poor even back then - Craw Wurm would probably be a better choice - and utterly laughable by today's standards. If it had cost 4G, it might have filled a role, but not at 5G.

I agree with you, but I'll correct what you said. If you're opponent blocks with 3 creatures, you still have a 2/4 wurm. It shrinks for each blocker beyond the first. You can easily kill 4 creatures with a decent combat trick on this wurm.

It's really not as bad as people are saying. If you have a Craw Wurm, and your opponent has a bunch of tokens, they will probably swing in with all but one guy, and leave the one back to chump your Wurm. If you have this guy though, they might hold back more guys in hopes of killing it with multiple blockers. So instead of getting hit with eight 1/1s, you're getting hit with three or four, or maybe none. Then when you swing in and they throw a bunch of blockers in front to shrink it, you pop out a combat trick and wipe their tokens.

I rate Johtull Wurm a 4.5 out of 5. He loses some value for being a worm in the rules text.

I remember the old combo was this, with Venomous Breath. I also love the flavor of it getting Weakness when gangblocked. I agree that this might have been interesting to play costed at 4Green, but as it is, saw nearly no play. Jungle Wurm from Mirage was a nice take on this penalty, and I actually saw that card fairly often in casual green decks of the day.
