@ Guest1467942152: The Starter sets had some truly messed up rarities. Goblin Hero was also a rare if memory serves. Maybe it was to show that basic creatures are harder to find, per mana cost, in red than in white or green. Of course, that doesn't explain why Starter had the strictly better Raging Goblin as a common...

This is the card that started all the goblin decks people. It may not seem like much now, but back then when there were too few abilities, this one was top notch.

Strictly better than Crazed Goblin.

@ chinkeeyong

This card isn't strictly better than Crazed Goblin

You can't use Mirrorweave to make him attack with a bunch of 1/1's that you can take and kill him next turn, or you can trade with and clean the board with Mon's. Now if they were all Crazed Goblins then you could use Mirrorweave to turn all of his creatures into wimps, easy to kill or just take the damage wimps.

Why are you playing either card anyway though?

The definitive 1/1

@ICEFANG13
chinkeeyong is correct in saying that this is strictly better than Crazed Goblin. The strictly better comparison looks at the general case, and not the crazy exceptions. Lightning bolt is strictly better than shock, even though you would prefer the shock to kill your opponent's Phyrexian Obliterator that has already taken 3 damage.
In your case, you are saying that the bad ability of the Crazed Goblin makes it better in a combo that exploits the crappy nature of a card.

Simply announcing this card before casting creates fear in the greatest opponent - "MON'S GOBLIN RAIDERS!!!"

It IS strictly better than Crazed. But "strictly" is a stupid term, so the point is moot.

The plan to introduce the Hairstyle mechanic via Mon's Goblin Braiders fell through at the last minute, because Mon organized a goblin strike.

This is a picture of them on the picket line, and the flavor text was written by a heckler.

1/1 for 1 is terrible, even if it does have a supported creature type.

Remember, these Goblin Raiders belong to Mons, hence the name Mons's. If his name was Mon it'd be Mon's Goblin Raiders. Remember your grammar!

Of course if his name was Mon's, it'd be Mon's's Goblin Raiders, but let's not get silly here.

Comparing the starter's flavor text to the printing in alpha and the others is absolutely disgusting.
